Pet owners could soon have to register alligators and other dangerous reptiles in the city of Pittsburgh. City council approved the ordinance Tuesday in an 8 to 1 vote. Several alligators were captured in the city between May and October.
Mayor Bill Peduto said he hasn’t read the bill yet and hasn’t decided whether he’ll sign it.

Commissioners Discuss Future Of Conservation District & Brush Creek
(Matt Drzik/Beaver County Radio)
Despite a brief running time of under 15 minutes, the County Commissioners’ work session of December 4 did bring up two major points of revelation.
First, an opening at the Conservation District became the focal point of Commissioner Sandie Egley’s Board notes, and she requested that the trio table the new hiring until after the transfer of power (where she will be replaced by newcomer Jack Manning) so that the Conservation District–itself in a rather messy state–could have more time to find the right candidate.
Unfortunately for Egley, the contract requires that the new hire take place by December 15, which only gives the Commissioners 11 days to make a choice. Nevertheless, the outgoing Commissioner felt that the decision needs to be a carefully considered one:
Also of note was the continued progress towards the renovation of Brush Creek Park, one which County Solicitor Garen Fedeles spoke about:
The Commissioners’ next work session will be at 10 AM on December 11.

Medicine Stop’s Dave Smatko Discusses Holiday Shopping & Big Vs. Small Pharmacies
Holiday time usually becomes shopping time for a lot of Beaver County residents, but across America the trend for shopping has started earlier and more become more imperative. So much so, in fact, that Black Friday itself has created several sub-holidays.
The reflection of the big-business chaos during the holidays is not one that Dave Smatko, owner of the Medicine Stop Pharmacy in Beaver Falls, tends to agree with or employ in his practices. He joined Matt Drzik on A.M. Beaver County on December 3 to talk about the practices he employs when it comes to his store hours, and how it seems more pleasant than the big-box shopping rush.
Smatko also talked about the history of his tenure, his dedicated staff that he works with, and the advice that he could give to current and future pharmacists. He also took a couple minutes to banter about his favorite sport (hockey) and the status of his favorite team (the Penguins).

Harris launched her campaign in front of 20,000 people at a chilly, outdoor campaign launch in January. Trump Not Worried About US Stock Market Dive
LONDON (AP) — President Donald Trump says he’s not worried that the U.S. stock market took a dive over his remarks that a trade deal with China might not materialize until after the 2020 election. U.S. stocks fell sharply in early trading after Trump cast doubt over the prospect of reaching a trade deal with China this year and threatened to impose tariffs on French goods. Trump has told says the stock market has reached record highs recently so it’s OK that the market fell.
Stocks Fall as Trump Downplays Chances of China Trade Deal
UNDATED (AP) — U.S. stocks are broadly lower in afternoon trading after President Donald Trump cast doubt over the potential for a trade deal with China this year and threatened to impose tariffs on French goods. The losses have the S&P 500 on track for its third straight loss as the market continues to give up gains after a strong November rally. Apple is down as technology stocks lead the losses. Banks are also sharply lower as investors head for the safety of bonds, pushing yields lower. Utilities are up.
Trump Barrels into NATO summit, Clashes with France’s Macron
President Donald Trump aimed insults at Emmanuel Macron on the first day of a two-day NATO conference. Trump is angry at the French president for recently saying NATO was experiencing “brain death” as a result of diminished U.S. leadership under Trump. Face to face with Trump, Macron stood by his comments and also expressed his frustration that the president withdrew U.S. troops from Syria. Trump also commented Tuesday on impeachment, assailing Democrats at home as “unpatriotic” for holding a hearing while he is abroad at the conference.
