WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on President Donald Trump and the House impeachment investigation (all times local):

House Democrats have subpoenaed President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani for documents related to his interactions with Ukrainian officials.
The House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight and Reform panels announced the subpoena Monday as they examine Trump’s efforts to have Ukraine investigate political rival Joe Biden and his family. Giuliani assisted in that effort.
The Democrats have also requested information from three of Giuliani’s associates.
The committees are investigating the matter, which was a subject of a whistleblower’s complaint, as part of an impeachment inquiry against Trump.

Republicans are split over how President Donald Trump should respond to impeachment proceedings.
The president’s allies fanned out across the Sunday talk shows espousing different approaches to the rough transcript and whistleblower complaint at the heart of the proceedings.
The whistleblower says Trump tried to pressure the president of Ukraine to investigate the son of Democrat Joe Biden.
Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, tried deflection by insisting that the real story is a debunked conspiracy theory. Senior presidential adviser Stephen Miller said “deep state” figures are to blame. Ohio congressman Jim Jordan said Biden’s son improperly profited from his father’s position. There’s no evidence of that.
Trump himself tweeted that he should be able to meet his accuser. A top House Democrat said he expects the whistleblower to testify “very soon.”

CVS stops sale of heartburn drugs with suspect contaminant

CVS has halted sales of popular heartburn treatment Zantac and its generic store brand after warnings by U.S. health regulators.
It’s the latest precautionary move by retailers and manufacturers after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently warned consumers about a potentially dangerous contaminant in prescription and over-the-counter versions of Zantac.
In its announcement this weekend, CVS said customers who bought Zantac products can return them for a refund. The retailer will continue to sell other heartburn medications.
WHAT’S THE ISSUE?
In September, the FDA said it detected low levels of a probable cancer-causing chemical known as NDMA in Zantac and related generic drugs to treat ulcers and reflux disease. The same chemical has been linked to dozens of recalls of prescription blood pressure drugs in the past year.
The agency said the amount found in Zantac products barely exceeds levels found in common foods such as meats, dairy products and chemicals. Even so, the warning has led some pharmacies and manufacturers to stop selling drugs containing Zantac’s active ingredient, ranitidine.
WHAT’S THE REACTION?
CVS Health said Saturday it has pulled Zantac and its generic store brand, saying the move “is being taken out of an abundance of caution.” On Monday, Rite Aid said it’s removing Zantac and related drugs sold under its name from its shelves. Walgreens earlier said it’s removing Zantac products from shelves while the FDA continues its investigation.
Last week, two generic makers voluntarily recalled their products: Apotex and Sandoz, the generic unit of drug giant Novartis AG. Both companies said they haven’t received any reports of patient harm. Some other manufacturers have stopped shipping their product to pharmacies.
The recalled Apotex products are sold at and labeled by Walgreens, Walmart and Rite-Aid, according to the FDA.
Sanofi, which makes brand name Zantac, said Monday it’s working with the FDA and doing its own investigation. But it has not stopped selling Zantac in the U.S.
The FDA has asked makers of ranitidine medications to test levels of NDMA in their products and to send samples to the agency.
WHAT’S THE ADVICE FOR PATIENTS?
Currently, the FDA isn’t advising patients to stop taking Zantac and related drugs. The agency said not all ranitidine medicines sold in the U.S. are being recalled. Concerned patients should contact their doctor.
ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES?
Several drugs also treat heartburn and other stomach conditions. They include Pepcid, Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid and Protonix. Some are available only with a prescription, while others also have less-potent nonprescription versions. For people taking over-the-counter Zantac and related medications, the FDA recommends they consider another heartburn medicine.

Authorities: Man shot, wounded in Pittsburgh street brawl
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities say a street brawl involving several men in a Pittsburgh neighborhood left at least one man wounded after shots rang out.
Police responded around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired in the area of West Liberty Avenue. They didn’t find any combatants but did locate several shell casings in a parking lot.
Around that time, the injured man walked into a hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to the thigh. Authorities say the man told him he had argued with a group of men and one of them shot him.
The injured man was hospitalized in stable condition. His name has not been released.
No arrests have been made.

All 4 escapees from Ohio jail arrested in North Carolina
CARY, N.C. (AP) — All four inmates who overpowered two female corrections officers and escaped from a county jail in Ohio were caught Monday in North Carolina after more than a day on the run, authorities in both states said.
Three men who escaped from the Gallia County jail early Sunday were “captured without incident” at around 2 a.m. in Cary, North Carolina. Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin announced Monday afternoon that the fourth was taken into custody in Durham, North Carolina.
The fourth man, Lawrence R. Lee, 29, got away at the time Christopher Clemente, 24, Brynn Martin, 40 and Troy McDaniel Jr., 30, were being arrested. The four will be held pending extradition to Ohio.
Cary police said the North Carolina Highway Patrol had alerted the department that the men were in the area, around 370 miles (595 kilometers) southeast of Gallipolis, the city where the jail is located. The two agencies, along with Raleigh police and the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, remained onsite for two hours after the arrests to “conduct a thorough search,” police said.
No details were released immediately on the circumstances of Lee’s arrest.
Champlin has said authorities believe the escaped inmates had help from at least one person outside the southeast Ohio jail. The four inmates overpowered the two officers with a homemade weapon, forced open a secure door, entered the jail’s administrative wing and stole keys to a corrections officer’s vehicle and drove it about a block away, where another vehicle awaited them, Champlin said.
Champlin said authorities in Pennsylvania located the suspected getaway vehicle and believed Clemente was in the area, prompting the evacuation of the Westmoreland Mall outside Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Clemente was being held for an indictment of two felony counts of complicity to trafficking drugs. Martin, who Champlin said escaped for the second time from the jail, is charged with breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, two counts of failure to appear, and escape — all felonies. McDaniel was being held for failure to appear from Gallia County Juvenile Court and Lee is charged with felony identity fraud and two misdemeanors: obstructing official business and assault.

NYPD officer was killed by friendly fire

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police said Monday that an officer killed while wrestling with an armed man was fatally struck by gunfire from his fellow officers.
Police Commissioner James O’Neill said Officer Brian Mulkeen, 33, was hit twice by police bullets during the confrontation early Sunday in the Bronx.
“This is a tragic case of friendly fire,” O’Neill said during a news conference at police headquarters.
Suspect Antonio Williams, 27, was also killed during the burst of gunfire, in which several officers fired shots. The entire exchange took around 10 seconds, O’Neill said.
Police say a .32-caliber revolver belonging to Williams was recovered at the scene. It had not been fired.
Investigators had previously suggested that Williams had wrested the officer’s gun away as the pair struggled on the ground, saying body camera video had recorded Mulkeen saying, “He’s reaching for it!”
But police said Monday that Mulkeen retained control of his gun and fired several shots during the encounter.
Mulkeen’s death is the second time this year that a member of the NYPD has been killed by friendly fire.
Detective Brian Simonsen died in February after being hit once in the chest by crossfire as he and six other officers fired 42 shots at a suspect who charged toward them and mimicked pulling the trigger of a fake handgun.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman is slamming as “beyond repugnant” President Donald Trump’s tweet of a conservative pastor’s comment that removing Trump from office would provoke a “civil war-like fracture” in America. Rep. Adam Kinzinger is a former Air Force pilot from an Illinois district Trump won in 2016. Kinzinger tweeted on Sunday that he has “visited nations ravaged by civil war” and that he “never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President.”
