Wayne Kress, Democratic Candidate for Beaver County Sheriff stopped by Teleforum

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) 2019 Candidate Spotlight continued in the Eleven o’clock hour of Teleforum on Wednesday October 30, 2019. Host Frank Sparks’ guest was Wayne Kress a candidate for Beaver County Sheriff on the Democratic ticket.

Wayne told the listeners about growing up in Center Twp. and graduating from Center High School. Wayne went on to serve our country and upon completion of his enlistment he took the test to become a Pa. State Trooper. About a year later Kress entered the Pa State Police Academy. Upon graduation he became a trooper until he retired. Wayne is very involved with the Beaver County Humane Society. Wayne is married and has a son and daughter.

Kress then started telling the listeners about the things he would like to do if he is elected the next Sheriff. Wayne said that if elected he would be out working with his deputies on a daily basis and that he believes in total transparency for the department if elected.

Maria Longo, Republican Candidate for Beaver County Controller stopped by Teleforum

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) 2019 Candidate Spotlight continued in the Ten o’clock hour of Teleforum on Wednesday October 30, 2019. Host Frank Sparks’ guest was Maria Longo a candidate for Beaver County Controller on the Republican ticket.

Maria told the listeners about growing up in Western Beaver and then after high school and college she worked in Cleveland for over a decade and then moved home to help with her father and started a successful business with her brother. Longo talked about her two furry friends and her love of life.

Sparks and Longo then talked about the Controllers office and specifically what they do. Frank then asked her to talk about what she likes and dislikes about the way the current Controllers office is run. Maria talked about how if elected she would work closely with the different departments within county government and that she believes in total transparency within the office.

Finally Longo told the listeners why she is qualified to be the next controller of Bevaer County and why she wants you to vote for her on Tuesday November 5 2019.

Schumer Asks Army How it’s Protecting Vindman

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer is asking the Army secretary for a briefing on what he’s doing to protect Alexander Vindman, a lieutenant colonel detailed to the White House who testified Tuesday in Democrats’ impeachment inquiry. Schumer wrote Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy after Democrats in Vindman’s closed-door deposition said they pushed back on Republican attempts to reveal the identity of a whistleblower who filed a complaint about President Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

Trump Pick for Russia Envoy Grilled by Senators on Ukraine

WASHINGTON (AP) — The second highest ranking official at the State Department faced off with senators demanding to know why he didn’t know more about the Trump administration’s backchannel diplomacy with Ukraine and the dismissal of the former U.S. ambassador to Kyiv. Both issues are at the heart of the impeachment inquiry into the president. Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan was questioned Wednesday during his confirmation hearing.

Wildfire Erupts Near Reagan Library in Southern California

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — A wind-driven wildfire burning northwest of Los Angeles has grown to 1,300 acres. The Ventura County Fire Department says the blaze is threatening 6,500 homes. The fire erupted before dawn Wednesday between the cities of Simi Valley and Moorpark and has been spread by strong Santa Ana winds. Flames have approached the hilltop Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, but a spokeswoman says no damage has occurred.

Jack Manning, Republican Candidate for Beaver County Commissioner stopped by Teleforum

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) 2019 Candidate Spotlight continued in the Nine o’clock hour of Teleforum on Wednesday October 30, 2019. Host Frank Sparks’ guest was Jack Manning a candidate for Beaver County Commissioner on the Republican ticket.

Jack told the listeners about his early life and growing up with many hardships and how that has molded him into the person his is today. Manning discussed his family and love of his wife, children, granddaughter, and soon to be arriving grandson. He talked about his professional life working for the Huntsman family and how they molded his political views. Manning came to Beaver County when he was transferred here and the rest is history as they say. He was part of the Beaver County Chamber for the last eight years serving as President for the last four before resigning last month to concentrate on his candidacy for Beaver County Commissioner. Manning told the listeners on why he would like for you to vote for him and why he feels he is the right man to lead Beaver County as one of its Commissioners.

House Panel says Lobbyist Disclosure Law Should be Improved

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A state House investigative committee says Pennsylvania’s lobbyist disclosure law should be overhauled so that lobbyists, rather than the entities they’re working for, have to report meals, gifts and other spending meant to influence government. The House Government Oversight Committee report released Wednesday also recommends changes to how lobbyist spending reports are audited.
