Bob Barrickman talks WPIAL Football Re-alignment on Teleforum with Frank Sparks.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.)  The WPIAL approved its conference realignment plan that was created by input from the schools and has now released it to the public. Beaver County Radio Sports Director and play by play man Bob Barrickman joined Frank Sparks on Teleforum Tuesday January 21, 20120 to talk about the changes that are coming.

A big part of the discussion centered around the fair play rule that made it so Aliquippa is forced to move up to Class 4A Section 1 when in fact they are only a Class A school.  Barrickman told the listeners that the Quips are appealing the ruling.

Barrrickman and Sparks discussed the major take aways from the new alignment which are Class 4A is bigger with 22 teams compared to just 16 last year, Non-conference games will be played at the beginning of the season, The competition will be better compared to the last few years,  and teams are now in geographically friendly sections based on their location making for less travel and expense for the schools.
