Pirates eager to get to work after eventful offseason
By WILL GRAVES AP Sports Writer
The Pittsburgh Pirates are heading into a new era as spring training opens. The club underwent a massive overhaul of its leadership team in the offseason, bringing in a new president in Travis Williams, a general manager in Ben Cherington and a new manager in Derek Shelton. Owner Bob Nutting felt the moves were necessary following a last-place finish in the NL Central, though the Pirates opted to leave the roster largely untouched. The only truly open competition as camp opens is at catcher and in the outfield, where the team is looking to replace Starling Marte. Marte was traded to Arizona.

Biden tells NH Democrats that Buttigieg ‘not a Barack Obama’
By JULIE PACE and HUNTER WOODALL Associated Press
Former Vice President Joe Biden is stepping up his criticism of rival Pete Buttigieg, telling New Hampshire voters ahead of the Democratic primary that Buttigieg’s experience as a small city mayor doesn’t prepare him for the White House. And as Buttigieg compares himself to the last Democratic president, Biden is declaring that “this guy’s not a Barack Obama.” Biden’s biting attacks on Buttigieg’s relatively thin resume during campaigning Saturday mark a new effort to slow the momentum of the youngest candidate in the Democratic field. Biden is trying to avoid falling far behind both Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders, who outperformed Biden in the Iowa caucuses.

Lysakowski spoke about the local racers that are succeeding and racing down in the Late Model series, the rise of one Hailie Deegan through the NASCAR ranks, how the weather has affected some earlier races down in the south, and his predictions for the Busch Clash–the precursor to the Daytona 500 on February 16.
Mike’s reports from Daytona are presented by Novak Auto Parts, Marbull’s Restaurant & Tavern, GNU’s Bodyworks, CJ Rombold Engine Builders, City Rescue Mission, and Beaver County Radio. Key takeaways from Democratic debate in New Hampshire
By HUNTER WOODALL and NICHOLAS RICCARDI Associated Press
At the Democratic presidential candidate debate in New Hampshire, the top finishers in Iowa, Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg, gained the most attention from their opponents Friday night and had some standout moments. Joe Biden, whose campaign is flagging and in the middle of a shakeup, had some feisty exchanges, but it’s not clear whether his performance will quell worries. Elizabeth Warren, who is competing with Sanders among progressives, also did little to change the campaign narrative. And Amy Klobuchar was quick with the quips as she tried gain an edge in the primary’s moderate lane.
