Justices to Hear Philly Dispute Over Same-Sex Foster Parents
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court will hear a dispute over a Philadelphia Catholic agency that won’t place foster children with same-sex couples. The justices will review an appeals court ruling that upheld the city’s decision to stop placing children with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s agency because it would not permit same-sex couples to serve as foster parents. The appeals court ruled the city did not target the agency because of its religious beliefs but acted only to enforce its own nondiscrimination policy in the face of what seemed to be a clear violation. The case will not be argued until the fall.

He has been a practice goalie with the Leafs and as the emergency goalie for Saturday night’s game, he was available to either team if needed. He was forced into action for the Hurricanes midway through the second period after Carolina’s James Reimer and Petr Mrazek were injured. The Hurricanes were leading 3-1 when the Ayres took over. LAS VEGAS (AP) — Joey Logano has defended last year’s victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a win under caution Sunday. Logano missed a call to come to pit road for fresh tires on the final round of stops, an error that put him in front for the lead on the restart. But with 17 drivers behind him with fresh tires, Logano needed a strong jump to preserve the victory. He pulled away on the restart and had taken the white flag when a crash behind him brought out the race-ending caution.
