Surveyors tackling resurvey of Mason-Dixon Line

PITTSBURGH (Tribune-Review) — A group of surveyors from Pennsylvania and Maryland starting this year plan to create a new record of what might be America’s most famous border: the Mason-Dixon Line. Officials say members of both states’ surveyor societies will help survey the 196-mile border stretching from Delaware to the southeastern tip of Fayette County, where Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia meet.

7th coronavirus victim in Pennsylvania in critical condition
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — State officials say a Montgomery County resident has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19. The person is currently in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The department says this latest person was exposed to the virus in another country. The first six people in the state who tested positive are in home quarantine with mild symptoms. The state has a lab in Exton that can make use of new equipment to boost its capacity to test up to 150 people a day instead of 25 people a day.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey has endorsed Joe Biden. Booker announced on Twitter early Monday that Biden will “restore honor to the Oval Office and tackle our most pressing challenges.” Booker ended his own presidential bid in January, pledging to do “everything in my power to elect the eventual Democratic nominee for president.” Booker’s decision follows Biden endorsements over the last few days by several failed Democratic presidential candidates, including Sen. Kamala Harris of California and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A cruise ship held off Florida’s coast while two crew members were tested for the new coronavirus has docked at a port. The Regal Princess was to have docked Sunday morning in Port Everglades, but pulled into the port around 10 p.m. Princess Cruises said the test results came back negative. The two staffers had transferred weeks ago from the ship Grand Princess in California, where nearly two dozen aboard tested positive for the virus. Princess Cruises said the two crew members didn’t exhibit any symptoms and were past the 14-day incubation period.

CLINTONVILLE, Pa. (AP) — State police say a logging truck struck a horse-drawn Amish buggy in northwestern Pennsylvania over the weekend, killing two people and sending three others to hospitals. Police in Venango County who were called to the scene just after 3 p.m. Sunday said the eastbound truck struck the buggy in Irwin Township. Police say a family of five was riding in the buggy, and a woman and a juvenile male were dead at the scene. A man was flown to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio and a juvenile female to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Another juvenile male was treated and released.
