WASHINGTON (AP) — Two months into his job, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is forging a fresh path for his Cabinet role and in his life that could bridge gaps with Republicans when it comes to President Joe Biden’s agenda. He’s been caught on Twitter biking home from work. He’s made a pitch for Biden’s massive public works plan at the popular SXSW conference in Texas. And he keeps up a dizzying pace of media interviews to sway the public. Biden has tasked Buttigieg and four other Cabinet members with selling the administration’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure and climate proposal. The plan offers big stakes for Buttigieg at the department.

Beaver State Troopers observed a dark blue Ford Expedition parked on the I-376 West bound ramp from Brighton road in Brighton Township yesterday around 3 AM. When they checked on the vehicle they found out that the California registration for the vehicle was expired. The operator of the vehicle, a 30 year old male from Beaver Falls, was later taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Pennsylvania State police are investigating a burglary that occurred between March 13th and 23rd in Ellwood City on Van Gorder Mill Road. Their report states that an unknown individual entered an unlocked garage and took two chain saws and a weed wacker from an 88 year old man. State Police are asking for assistance in identifying any suspicious activity that may have been noticed in the area. The equipment stolen was a Stihl MS260 chain saw, Stihl 0260 Chain saw and Stihl FS 56 weed eater.

State police have reported an accident on I-376 W in Potter Township that occurred last Thursday. A Honda Oddyssey was traveling westbound when the operator lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete barrier, according to the state police report. The vehicle sustained minor front end damage but was able to be driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.

State police have reported a traffic stop that was conducted on Saturday night at Frankfort Road and Pleasant drive in Potter Township. David Irwin of Aliquippa was pulled over while operating a Chevrolet Avalanche. He was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Beaver State Police pulled over a 2020 Hyundai Santa FE on I-376 W. According to the state police report, the Driver, David Gallagher of New Galilee, showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Much the way Republicans provided no votes for the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill, they plan to sit on the sidelines for this next big White House priority. The tension could mount this week. Biden shows no signs adjusting to satisfy Republican leaders, instead appealing directly to their constituents for support.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The death of another U.S. Capitol Police officer has exacerbated problems for a department months after the worst moment in its history — the storming of the Capitol by violent insurrectionists — and placed new urgency on lawmakers considering proposals to bolster the agency. The head of the Capitol Police union says officers are “reeling” following the death Friday of Officer Billy Evans, who was rammed by a vehicle driven by a man believed to be suffering from delusions and suicidal thoughts. The chair of the police union says hundreds of officers are considering retirement or finding work elsewhere.

GameStop says it’s selling up to 3.5 million of its shares, a move that will allow the video-game retailer to take advantage of the big surge in its stock price this year. The company said the shares will be sold through an “at-the-market” offering, which lets a publicly traded company raise capital over time by offering securities into the already existing trading market. GameStop plans to use proceeds for general corporate purposes, to further strengthen its balance sheet and to speed up its transformation process.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The trial of a former Minneapolis police officer in George Floyd’s death is expected Monday to turn toward the fired officer’s training after a first week dominated by emotional testimony from eyewitnesses and devastating video of his arrest. Derek Chauvin is charged with murder and manslaughter in the May 25 death of Floyd. Chauvin, who is white, is accused of pinning his knee on the 46-year-old Black man’s neck for 9 minutes, 29 seconds, as Floyd lay face-down in handcuffs outside a corner market. Police Chief Medaria Arradondo is expected to testify as early as Monday. Arradondo, the city’s first Black chief, fired Chauvin and three other officers the day after Floyd’s death, and in June called it “murder.”
