Bishop Canevin beats Rochester for WPIAL title!

 

 

 

The Bishop Canevin Crusaders defeated the Rochester Rams 42-27 for the WPIAL Championship. The game started rocky as both teams were having trouble scoring in the first half. The Rams took a 10-9 lead going into the half, but the second half was all Bishop Canevin. The Crusaders jumped out on 6-0 run to start the third quarter, and they did not surrender the lead the rest of the game. Despite the efforts by Rochester it was still not enough to overcome the deficit. Bishop Canevin moves on the PIAA State playoffs that take place nest weekend.

Beaver Girls win first WPIAL Title!

 

 

 

The Beaver Lady Bobcats defeated the Quaker Valley Lady Quakers 45-29, to capture the schools first ever WPIAL basketball championship. The Lady Quakers jumped out to an early lead at the end of the first quarter up 14-9. But, after that the Lady Bobcats defense started playing lock down defense. Holding the Quakers to only 4 points in the second quarter. The Bobcats defense was so tenacious that the Quakers did not score a field goal in the second and third quarters. The Bobcats led 33-18 entering the fourth quarter were it was much of the same. The Beaver Bobcats remain undefeated as they will start PIAA State playoffs next weekend.

Route 65 Bridge Inspection Work begins Next Week in Freedom Borough

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing inspection activities on the Route 65 ramps (Ohio River Boulevard) in Freedom Borough, Beaver County will begin Monday, March 15 weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. according to the following schedule:

  • Monday-Thursday, March 15-18 – Inspection on the ramp from northbound Route 65 to 3rd Avenue. Restrictions will occur on the ramp and on northbound Route 65.
  • Friday, March 19 and Monday-Wednesday, March 22-24 – Inspection on the ramp from 3rd Avenue to southbound Route 65. Restrictions will occur on the ramp and on southbound Route 65.

Both ramps will remain open during the inspection. Please use caution if traveling through the area.

Crews from CDM Smith will conduct routine bridge inspection activities.
