Beaver County Radio Adds Pa State Rep. Rob Matzie To Sports Broadcast Team

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Pennsylvania State Representative Rob Matzie joined Eddy Crow on Teleforum Friday morning, August 12, 2022 in the Eleven O’clock Hour to talk about the happenings of what is going on in the 16th District and in the state of Pennsylvania.

During the interview after the 11:30 news a special announcement was made by Matzie and Crow that Matzie will be a part of the Beaver County Radio Sports Broadcasting team this fall. Matzie will join Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Barrickman, Bruce Frey, Mike Azadian and another new addition to the team this year former Beaver County Times writer and current freelance writer John Perrotto.

Matzie isn’t new to the broadcast booth as he called games for WMBA back in the day. Matzie worked for WMBA from 1987 until 1994 as sports broadcaster and show host. Matzie continued to broadcast high school sports for the MSA and Trib-Live networks off and on for a number of years.

Beaver County Radio is excited to start our 75th Year of broadcasting high school sports and to roll out our new broadcast teams starting Friday August the 26, 2022.

BREAKING NEWS!! Brodhead Road in Center Township at Pleasant Drive Closed After Man Found Shot

(Center Twp., Beaver County , Pa.) Beaver County 911 Center is reporting that the Center Township Police Department and firefighters were called at 1243 PM Friday afternoon to the scene of a male suffering from a gun shot wound near the Center exit.  As of 2:00 PM Brodhead Road was closed from at Pleasant Drive. No other information is available at this time as it is an ongoing investigation.

Update: Pa.  State police said a man shot and killed himself inside a Center Township police vehicle. Police have set up a perimeter along Broadhead Rod near Pleasant Drive to investigate.  It’s unclear why the man was in the police vehicle and how he got a gun inside a police vehicle.

The man’s identity has not been released.

Social media posts stated that a male was suffering from Gun Shot Wound to the head and police were requesting Center Fire Department to block off the road and a helicopter was on standby.

BREAKING NEWS!! Child Struck by a Vehicle in Ambridge

(Ambridge, Pa.) A child was struck by a car  at 6th and Merchant Streets in Ambridge early Friday afternoon.  Police and firefighters were still on the scene as of 2:00PM and no other information is available according to Beaver County 9-1-1.

Social media posts stated that the child was injured and was transported to a local hospital.

Beaver Falls Man Wanted in Chippewa Twp. Incident Apprehended in Union Twp.

(Union Twp., Lawrence County, Pa.) The Pennsylvania State Police in New Castle are reporting that they apprehended a 41-yer-old Beaver Falls man that was wanted by Chippewa Township, Beaver County, Police for an unknown incident that occurred earlier in the day on Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Troopers are reporting that they received a BOLO (Be On the Look Out For) from Chippewa Township Police Department for Oscar Guant for the unknown incident.
Troopers in New Castle reported that at 12:09 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022, they were able to locate Guant at an address on West State Street in Union Township, Lawrence County. Troopers said in the release that once they made contact with Guant he refused to follow commands and subsequently fled the scene, striking a patrol car in the process. Guant eventually crashed the vehicle he was driving in Ohio and was taken into custody without incident.
No other information was released as the investigation continues.

SCARECROWS OF HOPEWELL, October 8, 2022

THE TOWNSHIP AND WESBANCO are teaming up to host a scarecrow making contest. The event is scheduled for  Saturday, October 8, 2022 at  11 AM in  THE MUNICIPAL COMPLEX. They are looking for individuals, families, friends, classes, clubs, teams, scouts, anyone that wants to join in the fun! Straw, wooden frames, burlap sacks, and rope/twine will be provided. Teams are asked to provide clothes and any other accessories. Pre -registration is required by September 30 so supplies can be ordered.

Scarecrows will be placed throughout the township , specifically at the township building, the park, Welcome to Hopewell signs, business entrances, etc..
Once the project is completed, photos will be taken, then the scarecrows will be posted on Facebook for votes..
