(Ambridge, Pa.) 16th District Pa State Rep. Rob Matzie announced that Beaver County preschoolers will have greater access to early learning resources thanks to nearly $1.5 million in funding awarded to bolster area Pre-K Counts and Head Start Supplemental Assistance programs.
Matzie said in a release that the funding from the state Department of Education’s Office of Child Development and Early Learning will increase the number of available Pre-K Counts slots and help ensure that area Head Start programs have the resources to manage increased operating costs.
Matzie said the funding includes the following:
Pre-K Counts in the amount of $400,000 to Aliquippa School District and $170, 000 to Chippewa Noah’s Ark LLC
The Head Start Private Industry Council (serving Beaver and Fayette counties) will also $925,900
The funding, made available through the Pennsylvania Department of Education Office of Child Development and Early Learning.

(Aliquippa, Pa.) The Pennsylvania State Police in Beaver are reporting that a Beaver County Detectives Black unmarked Police SUV was stolen in Aliquippa around 1 AM on Tuesday morning. The vehicle was recovered around 3:49 AM Tuesday morning at the intersection of sixth Ave and Elmira Street in Aliquippa. Troopers said in the release that the unknown actor or actors made entry into the vehicle and crashed it at the intersection where the vehicle was found.
Troopers are asking anyone with any information to contact them at the Beaver Barracks at 724-773-7400.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, whose dulcet tones provided the soundtrack of summer while entertaining and informing Dodgers fans in Brooklyn and Los Angeles for 67 years, died Tuesday night. He was 94. The Dodgers say family members informed them that Scully died at his home in the Hidden Hills section of Los Angeles. As the longest tenured broadcaster with a single team in pro sports history, Scully saw it all and called it all. He began in the 1950s era of Pee Wee Reese and Jackie Robinson and went through to 2016, when he retired.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Rookie Oneil Cruz hit a three-run homer to spark a five-run sixth inning as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied for a 5-3 victory over the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers, snapping a seven-game skid. Cruz hit a blast to dead center field off reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes, pulling the Pirates into a 3-all tie. Pittsburgh then added two runs to win for the first time since July 23. The Brewers had their four-game winning streak snapped, one day after trading All-Star closer Josh Hader to San Diego. Milwaukee had also won seven of eight.

(Mahoning Twp., Lawrence County, Pa.) Pa State Police in New Castle are reporting that they were dispatched to reports of a theft on Baird Rd in Mahoning Twp. on July 30, 2022 at 12:40 AM.
Upon arriving on the scene and investigating Troopers were advised by Hill Gas Company that someone stole batteries from their well pad .
No other information was made available but State Police are asking any one with information on any suspicious vehicles in the area on the above date and time to please call Trooper McBride at the Pa State Police Barracks in New Castle at (724) 598-2211. Troopers are also saying if anyone sees anything suspicious at and well pads to call 911.

(Pittsburgh, Pa.) Pa State Police at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh is reporting that they arrested and charged 30-year-old Igor Soares of Sewickley with Public Drunkenness after an incident that occurred at the casino on July 30, 2022 at 8:30 PM.
Troopers reported via release that Rivers Casino Security ejected Soares from the casino property but he refused to leave. Security then requested the help of State Police at the casino. Troopers said that after they arrived Soares still refused to leave the casino property prompting his arrest.
He was cited by State Police with Public Drunkenness and released to a sober party.

(Pittsburgh, Pa.) Pa State Police at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh is reporting that  they have charged 37-year-old Brandi Coyle of Coraopolis with criminal trespass after an incident that occurred at the casino on July 31, 2022 at 11:10 AM.

Troopers reported that the incident occurred on the gaming floor after Coyle had won a Jackpot on a slot machine. Troopers said that Coyle had signed up for a one year self-exclusion from from the casino on April 25, 2022 and thus violated that. She was escorted off of the property of the casino and a citation was filed through Pittsburgh Municipal Courts.
