Dr. Saad Javed Joins Jim Roddey To Discuss Gastroenterology On This Week’s “Heroes”

Allegheny Health Network’s Dr. Saad Javed joins host Jim Roddey on this week’s episode of “Heroes” to talk about the different elements to gastroenterology, including the dangers of acid reflux disease. Also, Eric Zahren (president) of the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission joins Jim to continue their 10-part series on winners of the Carnegie Medal.

Hopewell Township’s Holiday Trail: December 3, 2022

(Hopewell Twp., Beaver County, Pa.) Hopewell Township officials have announced that the annual Holiday Trail  is on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Residents can pick up their brochures at the township building during regular business hours and visit the businesses listed, get a sticker at each one, name the elf, and turn in the brochures to receive  a small .  Christmas tree from the township.

Five Local Teams Looking To Punch Their Tickets To WPIAL Championship

Before it “all comes down to this”, five Beaver County teams will have make one final push in order to battle for WPIAL gold next week at Acrisure Stadium. Rochester, South Side Beaver, Beaver Falls, Aliquippa, and Central Valley are all just 48 minutes away from a trip to Pittsburgh, a date with destiny–and for a couple teams, a rematch to the stars.

A rematch will be in order tonight for the Rochester Rams (7-4), as they play Big Seven foe Union (9-3) in the Class 1A Semifinals tonight on 99.3 FM, 1230 WBVP and the Trib Live High School Sports Network. The last time these teams met, the Scotties broke a scoreless tie in the final minute to down the Rams on Homecoming night. Now the #14 Rams look for revenge coming off of a 30-14 quarterfinal victory against #6 Fort Cherry, while the #10 Scotties look for the season series sweep coming off of a 30-28 upset of #2 Laurel. Bruce Frey and Eddy Crow will have the call from Bulldog Stadium in Freedom tonight, with pregame at 6:30 and kickoff set for 7:00 PM.

On 95.7 FM, 1460 WMBA and Trib Live tonight, there will also be a rematch…albeit one calendar year in the making. #1 seed Aliquippa (10-0) looks to return to the championship game as they battle #5 McKeesport (11-1) in the Class 4A semifinals. This is the second consecutive year that these two teams have met in the semis, with the Quips outlasting the Tigers in last year’s contest by a score of 27-21 in double overtime. In this year’s playoffs, the Quips enter tonight’s contest following a 41-7 walloping of #9 Montour, while McKeesport last week knocked off #4 Armstrong by a tally of 41-21. Mike Azadian and John Perrotto have the call from Canon-McMillan for tonight’s contest, with pregame at 6:30 and kickoff set for 7:00 PM.

Here’s all eight contests for tonight’s WPIAL semifinals, the winners move on to the championships at Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field) next Friday. All games tonight are at 7:00 PM:

Ambridge School Board Approves Retirement of Teacher and Resignations

(Ambridge, Pa.)  The Ambridge School Board approved the retirement of the high school biology teacher Karen DeMarco at Wednesday night’s meeting. The board also approved the resignation of Highland Elementary School Principal Tom McKelvey, and high school Spanish teacher Gloria Correa.
Approval was given to  purchase McGraw Hill’s 2020 Wonder Works Reading Intervention Materials. The materials  are  for instructing those students with reading disabilities.

U.S. House Passes Lymphedema Treatment Act

(Washington D.C.) The United States House of Representatives passed the Lymphedema Treatment  Act on Thursday by a vote of 402-13.  The Senate must act on the  bill before year’s end so the president can sign it into law.
Lymphedema is a swelling caused when healthy lymph nodes are removed from  breast cancer  patients and other types of cancers There is primary and secondary lymphedema  and compression garments are not approved by Medicare, causing patients to pay out of pocket..
The Lymphedema Advocacy Group has representatives in each legislative district throughout the United States.
