Ambridge School Board approves secretary’s retirement , hires new teachers

(Ambridge, Pa.) Ambridge School Board met and approved high school attendance secretary Amy Sipes’s retirement at Wednesday night. Ambridge Middle School English Teacher Brenna Wandel resigned, and Jessica Seerbo resigned from Highland Elementary School.

Brandie  Johnson was hired to teach sixth grade at the middle school. Her salary was set at $48,971. Gloria Correa was hired to teach high school Spanish. Her salary will be $47,861.

Central Valley School District Approves Emergency Plan, Hears Construction Update

(Center, Twp., Beaver County, Pa.) The Central Valley School Board approved their Emergency & Disaster Operations Plan that includes all the schools, BVIU, CCBC and BCCTC, the police departments , fire departments and first responders and municipal complexes in the district.

An update on the construction at Center Grange Primary School was presented. Principal Karla Kosanovich commented that her students  are excited  to see all the construction equipment on site. A portion of the Todd Lane Elementary School  roof is under warranty and will be replaced  next week.
Natalie Condo, middle school science teacher and girls high school head basketball coach resigned both positions. Chris Wagner was hired as the new girls basketball coach. Middle school basketball coach is Marcus Brown . New high school baseball coach is Jim Bruzdewicz.

Drug Free Aliquippa Hosting A BBQ Bash

(Aliquippa, Pa.) Aliquippa Elementary school’s field is the site chosen for the Drug Free Aliquippa’s Coalition Back to School BBQ Bash. The event will be held on Thursday September 29, 2022 at 5PM.  THE EVENT IS  A FREE FAMILY EVENT FEATURING KICKBALL, PRIZES, AND FREEBIES.  THE DRUG FREE COALITION  IS FUNDED BY A FEDERAL GRANT. AND THE EVENT IS JOINTLY SPONSORED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY. .

BREAKING NEWS: New Brighton School Dismissing All Students After Experiencing Electrical Problem At High and Elementary Schools

(New Brighton, Pa.) The New  Brighton Area School District is dismissing all district students after an electrical issue that they experienced at the High School and Elementary School early Friday morning.
This is a developing story and we will continue to update you as news becomes available.
UPDATE 10:16 AM:    New Brighton firefighters were dispatched to New Brighton High School just after 8 a.m. Friday morning. According to an update received at  9:45 a.m. there is no active fire.
The district issued a statement  that they are experiencing an electrical problem on the main campus with the elementary and high school buildings. All students have been cleared from the buildings and are safe and accounted for.

Dismissal at the high school was at 9:30 a.m., middle school at 10 a.m., and the elementary school at 10:30 a.m.
According to a news release ,”We do not expect to be cleared to return to the buildings today.

State Police Respond to Two Vehicle Accident That Occurred As Vehicle is Turning Into Driveway

(Little Beaver Twp., Lawrence County, Pa.) Pa State Police in New Castle are reporting that they were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle accident on at 3:10 PM, August 25, 2022, along Pa 351 near Oaks lane in Little Beaver Township, Lawrence County.
Upon arriving and investigating it was learned that 62-year-old Karen Bosworth was attempting to turn into a driveway while operating a 2011 Subaru Outback when her vehicle was struck by a 2013 Ram 3500 being driven 53-year-old David Meyer of New Galilee as he was passing Bosworth’s car on the left side of the roadway. Troopers reported that no injuries were reported and Meyer received a written warning for following too closely

Beaver Falls School Board Approves New Hirings, Eight Field Trips, And A New Roof For Central Elementary

Before all the fun, there was work to be done.

The school board for the Big Beaver Falls Area School District met briefly on Thursday, September 15 to approve several measures for its four major arteries (the high school, middle school, Central Elementary and Big Beaver Elementary). The brief nature of the meeting was due to the unveiling of the newest art to adorn the school’s downtown campus several minutes after the meeting was to conclude.

Amanda Hiltz was appointed as a counselor for Central Elementary at a salary of $49,000, while Jaccari Cleckley was hired as a volunteer football coach for the Junior High team during the 2022-23 school year. Elementary STEM teacher Tyler Jodon had his resignation approved, while Eleanor Cockfield was approved for a $700/month contract for ESL translation/interpretation services.

Garland Company, Inc. was approved to provide design and bid management services for a new roof to be built at Central Elementary; bids for the project through Garland will be advertised starting in October of 2022. Eight different school field trips were also unanimously approved for the Ski Club, Gifted Program, and several class-subject initiatives.

The next meeting will take place on October 13; it will be a combined Discussion and Voting meeting.

Joe Namath Mural Officially Revealed At Larry Bruno Athletic Complex

“I know Western PA. I know Beaver Falls is my home, man.”

Those words, spoken by Beaver Falls High School graduate Joe Namath, reflected the homecoming atmosphere that took hold at the Larry Bruno Athletic Complex on Thursday, September 15. The Pro Football Hall Of Fame quarterback for the New York Jets and the University Of Alabama had a life-size mural of his likeness revealed in his honor at the Joe Namath Practice Field behind the Beaver Falls Middle School. The mural was designed by artist Mike Sullivan as part of the Pittsburgh Legends Mural Series, and was presented to the high school on behalf of the Legacy Art Foundation and PPG.

Beaver Falls Athletic Director Jim Carbone was the emcee for the evening’s ceremony, and was joined by guest speakers Cindy Cook (School Board President) and Judge Rick Mancini. The Tiger Cheerleaders and Tiger Marching Band gave performances for the crowd–including “Broadway Joe”–and the players and coaches of the varsity football team were also in attendance for the honoring of their school’s most famous gridiron general. Four of those players–seniors Trey Singleton, Connor Paolucci, Thomas Tutwiler, and Jaren Brickner–joined Namath’s lifelong friend Linwood Alford to unveil the mural to an adoring crowd.

Namath himself, along with his granddaughter Jemma, were live by video feed at the event. Joe expressed gratitude toward his hometown, and acknowledged the man who first taught him great wisdom in life and in football. “Larry Bruno was a great man and a great coach,” Namath stated. “He said, ‘It’s alright to dream about things. If you don’t dream about things, they may never happen. If you dream about them, you can make them happen.’ And then I started to dream.”

The WPIAL Champion, NCAA Champion, and Super Bowl Champion gave some sound advice to the team that played for his alma mater. “You got to convince yourself that you’re doing the right thing, giving every ounce of energy and effort to whatever you’re doing on the field and off the field; to whatever you’re doing productively. Don’t let people tell you that you can’t do something.”

Plus, he had one final command for the current Tigers, on the eve of their battle for the Little Brown Jug: “Beat New Brighton!”
