Structural Fire in New Brighton

(New Brighton, PA) A structure fire broke out around 4:30 A.M. Saturday morning in New Brighton. The fire occurred on the 1400 block of Penn Avenue at the location of Meehan’s Self Storage. Flames could be seen coming from one fully engulfed garage type building, storage units attached to the structure were affected as well. Additionally, a neighboring shed and trees along the building caught fire. New Brighton, Beaver Falls, and Rochester fire departments were dispatched to the scene, along with multiple other departments responding as well. Firefighters appeared to be getting the blaze under control by around 5 AM, and remained on scene for hours after. Beaver Falls Fire Department reported that several other nearby buildings that were exposed to the fire sustained heat damage and water was immediately placed on those buildings to prevent further damage.  We have not yet learned the cause of the fire. Central Valley stomps Avonworth!

The Central Valley Warriors defeated the Avonworth Antelopes 43-6 tonight. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, scoring 3 quick touchdowns. The second quarter was a little slower as the the Warriors forced turnovers and couldn’t capitalize on them. But were able to score a late touchdown before the half extending the lead to 29-0 going into the half. The second half was much of the same as the Warriors continued to dominate scoring early in the third quarter adding to their lead. The Warriors led 36-0 going into the fourth quarter, the Antelopes scored a late touchdown in the fourth to avoid the shut out. The Central Valley Warriors move to 9-0 on the year and will play Hopewell next week. And, as for the Avonworth Antelopes they move to 7-2 and will play Quaker Valley next week.

1230 WBVP, 99.3 FM, and beavercountyradio.com’s  Bob Barrickman  and Jason Colangelo had the call from Avonworth High School of this WPIAL Class 3A Northwestern Six Conference high school football game as the defending champion Warriors battled the Antelopes.
