Beaver County Had A “Smooth” Primary Tuesday, Still Counting Mail-In Ballots
(Matt Drzik/Beaver County Radio)
Regardless of the winners and losers in the primary on Tuesday, Beaver County is celebrating a successful day of voting. The Commissioners and Law Department spoke about the election at the Work Session at the courthouse on Wednesday.
“The election yesterday went really smooth here in Beaver County,” said solicitor Garen Fedeles. “They are currently counting 8,875 mail-in ballots…of those, 1,625 were Republican and 7,250 votes were Democrat. The hope is that they have that completed by today.”
Fedeles acknowledged that there was minor issues with certain vote scanners being jammed, but reiterated that the overall election process was smooth.
“I just want to thank the volunteers who are downstairs counting the ballots,” Commissioner Tony Amadio added. “I don’t know how we would do it without them volunteering downstairs, and I think they need to be thanked.
The next Commissioners’ work session is scheduled for May 25 at 10:00 AM at the Beaver County Courthouse.

Vote Counting Drags on in Pennsylvania’s GOP Senate Primary
(AP Photo/Seth Wenig)
By MARC LEVY Associated Press
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Heart surgeon-turned-TV celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund CEO David McCormick are locked in a too-early-to-call race for Pennsylvania’s hotly contested Republican nomination for an open U.S. Senate seat. Vote counting continues Wednesday. Some counties have yet to tabulate mail-in ballots in the presidential battleground state. Counting of provisional, overseas and military absentee ballots could last all week. There is no runoff law in Pennsylvania. But the race was close enough to trigger Pennsylvania’s automatic recount law. Oz has been helped by an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman won the Democratic nomination as he recovered from a stroke he suffered Friday.
