Heritage Valley Continuing Vaccination Efforts

(Moon Twp., Pa.) Suzanne Sakson, Director of Marketing and Communications for Heritage Valley health System  said in a press release that Saturdays have been busy at CCBC’s campus  where they  have completed 2 large COVID-19 vaccination events.   More than 1,000 vaccines were administered  to Phase 1A individuals on March 6, 2021 and March 13, 2021.   The release stated that  these large  volume vaccination clinics  represent just part  of the health system’s  community vaccination effort  as weekday clinics are held in Robinson Township  at the  former Heritage Valley location next to Staples, as well  as the CCBC Dome.

In January the Health System and CCBC partnered  to initiate the vaccination clinics.  Through these efforts  33,414 doses have been administered to more than 12,400 individuals fully vaccinated , meaning they received the required two doses.
Slots for the vaccinations  at the community  clinics fill rapidly  and  those 65 and older  are being scheduled. On Monday, March 22, 2021 those established patients  ages 50-64 who registered with  high-risk conditions, and those who haven’t registered are advised to do so.  More than 4,700 individuals with high-risk conditions have registered to be on the waiting list.
Large first-dose vaccine clinics  are April 10 and 17, and May 15 and 29.  Individuals must be scheduled to obtain the vaccine.

Manning Sees Potential For Economic Revitalization Of Beaver County

With the desire to re-open businesses and the money to do so, County Commissioner Jack Manning sees much more than a light at the end of the tunnel.

“I really think this is a transformational opportunity to reshape and modernize government, and set the Beaver County economy going forward into the next decade,” said Manning at Wednesday’s work session. Manning, prior to his stint as Commissioner, was the head of the County’s Chamber Of Commerce.

“The future of Beaver County is right now,” he added.

The county is receiving $14.8 million in CARES Act Funding, and that doesn’t factor in the multitude of stimulus money being deposited into individual bank accounts across Beaver County and elsewhere.

Manning openly feels that there should be a plan in place to answer the question “How do we best utilize this funding?” and expects input from citizens, county workers, and constituents for putting the plan together.

CVS IN AMBRIDGE To ADMINISTER COVID-19 VACCINES

(Ambridge, Pa.) 1-800- SHOP CVS  announced yesterday  that the Ambridge pharmacy is fully booked, there  are no   available vaccine appointments. An official said that the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson and , Johnson  vaccines were obtained for the site.

Aliquippa CVS and  and  the CVS on Heights Road in Hopewell township haven’t received any  dates when they will receive vaccines.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A special election to fill a western Pennsylvania state House seat that is vacant because of a lawmaker’s retirement is scheduled for the state primary on May 18. The speaker’s office said Wednesday that voters will choose a new state representative in the district that had been represented until Tuesday by Republican Rep. Jeff Pyle. There will also be special elections on May 18 for open legislative seats held most recently by the late Rep. Mike Reese in Westmoreland County, former state Sen. John Blake of Lackawanna County and the late state Sen. Dave Arnold of Lebanon County.

Baden Women in Beaver County Jail Charged with Drug Delivery in December Overdose Death

(Baden, Pa.) A Baden woman is being held in the Beaver County Jail after being charged with drug delivery resulting in death three months after a man was found dead inside a home.

Natalie Robinson, 32, was being held in the Beaver County Jail.
On Dec. 3, 2020, Ryan Fedorka was found dead in a home in Baden with a syringe near his body and stamp bags of heroin nearby.
During an investigation, police interviewed 32 year-old Natalie Robinson, who, according to the criminal complaint, described herself as a “middle man,” buying drugs for Fedorka from a dealer in Aliquippa.

Robinson is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on March 30.

Former President and CEO of Beaver County Credit Union Accused of Taking More Than Two Million Dollars

(Pittsburgh, Pa.) The former president and CEO of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 712 Federal Credit Union in Beaver is accused of stealing more than $2 million Dollars between May 2017 and March 2020.
In Paperwork filed Monday in U.S. District Court prosecutors said Stacey Shaw opened six credit cards issued by the union and fraudulently raised the credit limits on each card, making a combined $2,099,437 worth of charges and cash advances.

Shaw is also accused of willful failure to file tax returns in regard to tax years 2018 and 2019 in relation to the stolen money.
She earned $589,222 in 2018 and about $1.1 million in 2019, according to court papers.

The IRS will delay the traditional April 15 tax filing due date until May 17 to cope with added duties and provide Americans more flexibility. The IRS announced the decision Wednesday and said it would provide further guidance in coming days. The move provides more breathing room for taxpayers and the IRS alike to cope with changes brought on by the pandemic. The decision postpones when individual taxpayers must file their return and when their payment is due. The IRS said taxpayers who owe money would not face any further penalties or interest if they pay by May

Listeners Get Lucky For “Customer Appreciation Week” At Al’s Corner

Whether it was the “luck of the Irish” or the skill of guessing any of the “new” names on the Beaver County Radio Personality Prize Wheel, it was a great day for customers of Al’s Corner in Koppel to celebrate.

In celebration of Customer Appreciation Week, Al’s Corner invited Matt Drzik and Eddy Crow to come out and have some fun, giving away great prizes and enjoying the great food that Al’s always is serving from 5 AM to 11 PM. Rachel and the staff wore their green and gave away t-shirts, gift cards, and plenty of other “gold” from the end of the rainbow located on the corner of Routes 351 & 18 on Arthur Street in Koppel. Frank Sparks, Curtis Walsh, and Gavin Reese from Beaver County Radio came out to enjoy the festivities themselves, and every customer walked away happy.
