At the New Brighton Borough Council meeting on August 18, the council approved an agreement with PennDOT to begin an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) curb ramp project for 5th Street in the borough. The borough will share 10% of the cost of the project, at a tally of $30,850. The agreement would be through borough manager Tom Albanese, who was not in attendance at the Thursday meeting. It was placed on the agenda for the next upcoming council meeting
Mayor Tom Albanese addressed the recent complaints regarding the decibel levels in town and if there is any way for the police department to enforce any ordinances. “We do not have a decibel meter,” Albanese stated. “Nor do we have–though I think it’s a good idea, and I see where it’s coming from–we don’t the officers to put that together right now. No meter, no officers.”
Nathaniel Medved was hired as a full-time police officer from the current Civil Service Eligibilty list, and the borough paid its bill total of $417,751.06–with a reimbursement of $304,277.23.
