(Aliquippa, Pa.) Aliquippa City Council met on Wednesday night and voted to exit Act 47 next year, and coordinator Debbie Grass explained how the Home Rule Charter would work if the study reveals that the city would go in that direction. If that happens it will change the city’s current form of government. A decision must be made between August 22 and August 30 of this year if they want to have the county board of elections place the question on the ballot.
In other business Council approved current part time police officers Bruce Tooch and Sam Holden to become full time. This action was taken per the city’s Civil Service Commission eligibility letter. Mayor Dwan B. Walker plans to hire more full and part time officers.
Mayor Walker also stated that they will be honoring the people that assisted State Trooper Schooley after he was shot in the leg while attempting to apprehend Domain Bradford at the Franklin Ave Min-Market last Friday morning at a later date.
