State Residents Gets Free Doses of Opioid Overdose Antidote Medication Today

State residents are once again getting a chance today to pick up free doses of opioid overdose antidote medication. Free naloxone will be available for pick up at dozens of locations statewide while supplies last. Naloxone is used to fight an overdose by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain, and state officials say that more than 25-thousand Pennsylvanians have been revived by the drug since November of 2014. The medication was last offered for free on September 18th, and more than four-thousands kits were distributed.
