(Ambridge, PA) State Representative Rob Matzie and other community leaders will be at 600 Eleventh Street in Ambridge on Thursday, November 5th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to flip the switch on Ambridge Borough’s new rooftop solar system.
This was facilitated through the Rural Innovation through Solar Empowerment (RISE) project, which was in partnership between the nonprofits New Sun Rising, RiverWise, and The PA Solar Center to accelerate solar adoption in communities that are throughout Beaver County.
The RISE Project started as a two-year initiative which was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energizing Rural Communities Prize.
The solar installation for Ambridge Borough is the second initiative that is from The RISE Project to come online, and the first was the interactive solar demonstration system at Neighborhood North: Museum of Play in Beaver Falls that became active this past July.
EIS Solar installed the solar system for Ambridge, and this was paid for in part by an Environmental Mitigation Community Fund grant.
EIS Solar also estimated that the solar array will save taxpayers in Ambridge about $509,000 over the next 25 years.
