(Cranberry Township, PA) Law enforcement in a Butler County community is now taking action to keep people safe because they are seeing increased numbers of kids riding electric bikes on the roads. 

According to Cranberry Township Police Lt. William Ahlgren, as electric bikes, e-motorcycles, and electric scooters are becoming more prevalent, they are becoming bigger problems, especially this summer with kids out of school. 

The Cranberry Township Police Department is planning enforcement even though they previously focused on educating kids about where these bikes and scooters can be operated.

These incidents could lead to impounding a vehicle, citations and fines. 

Ahlgren confirmed that some parks in Cranberry Township have been getting damage because kids are riding these electric vehicles in places that they should not be riding them.

Ahlgren also noted that his police department is encouraging parents to speak with their kids about riding safely so they can avoid a tragedy, because parents can be held responsible for the actions of their children.
