(Harrisburg, PA) Governor Josh Shapiro and PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll announced today that a second daily Pennsylvanian train between New York City and Pittsburgh, via Harrisburg, will begin operating in mid-November, following close collaboration with Amtrak and Norfolk Southern.

Amtrak is anticipating the beginning of ticket sales for the additional Pennsylvanian train in October, which is ahead of the start of service.

The Shapiro Administration has invested over $80 million into the rail expansion, with construction already completed or underway.

This service expansion will give more Pennsylvanians the access to modern, reliable and safe passenger rail service to gets them where they need to go by connecting communities in Pennsylvania, as well as bringing economic development, infrastructure investment and jobs along with it.
