(Beaver County, PA) Mold was found inside New Horizon School in Beaver County for the second time in a year.

The mold was found growing on things in the special education school like desks, furniture, library books and teaching supplies, and these items had to be thrown out.

New Horizon School is scheduled to reopen for its first day of school on August 24th, 2026 after mold forced students out of the school’s building last year.

According to Eric Rosendale, the executive director of the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit, which oversees the school, as crews were working on a $15 million renovation project to clear the fungus at that time, they learned mold spread inside storage containers.

Rosendale also confirmed that there has been a great deal of support from schools in the region and outside of Beaver County, with all of them pledging to donate furniture and other items.
