(Pittsburgh, PA) The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium announced on Facebook that a female African lion cub was born April 5. 

According to the zoo, the cub is expected to make her public debut later this summer. 

The cub was born to 9-year-old parents Scarlett and Hondo. Zoo officials said Scarlett and the cub are currently staying in a maternity den while they bond. 

The zoo said it plans to share updates on the cub’s development on social media throughout the summer.
