(Rochester, PA) Senator Elder Vogel Jr. announced that two projects in Beaver County will receive a total of $35,000 through the state’s Environmental Education Grants program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Among the recipients, Aliquippa School District was awarded $5,000 for its “Roots of Change: A Living Laboratory for Environmental Education” program. The initiative will convert a school garden into an outdoor classroom for about 100 fifth-grade students.
Riverwise Inc. received $30,000 for its “Summer Sustainability Institute 2026,” a program for middle and high school students that will partner with local environmental experts to explore environmental issues.
The Environmental Education Grants program supports a range of projects, including hands-on student programs, teacher training and community conservation efforts.
