(Anderson County, SC) According to authorities, a man from Pennsylvania was shot and killed and a sheriff’s deputy was wounded during a traffic stop in Anderson County, South Carolina on Monday. The Anderson County Office of the Coroner stated in a Facebook post that Austin Roberston of Harrisburg was shot and killed by a deputy from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 near mile marker 11. This occurred because a vehicle was stopped for a moving violation and Roberston grabbed a gun and fired at least one shot at one of the deputies. One deputy fired back at Roberston and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy that was hurt was most recently listed in stable condition and in “good spirits,” even though he suffered “life-threatening injuries.” South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has taken over the investigation into the shooting.
