(Hollywood, CA) Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter school graduate Ashley Marina did not move on to the next round of the NBC reality singing competition show, “The Voice: Battle of Champions.” The eighteen-year-old barista from Pittsburgh sang in the battle rounds as a member of John Legend’s team and sang a duet with another member of her team, Syd Millevoi. The duo performed Mariah Carey’s “Love Takes Time.” Millevoi, a twenty-three-year-old student and wedding singer from Secaucus, New Jersey, won the battle. Marina moved on to the battle rounds because at least one of the three coaches of “The Voice: Battle of Champions” wanted her on her team during her blind audition at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California. Singer John Legend shared thoughts about the battle and why he picked Millevoi: “Ashley and Syd are both very talented, but Syd is just a phenomenal performer. She hit some of the highest notes you will ever hear an artist sing, and she does it effortlessly which is phenomenal. She belongs in the finale of this show. She’s special.”
