(Sewickley, PA) A $13,650 grant from the Energy Transfer First Responder Fund was given to the Economy Volunteer Fire Department in Sewickley at an event there on March 3rd, 2026. Economy Fire Chief Theodore Brickner confirmed that day that this grant will help that department replace their aging hoses, which he said “have served us well but are no longer equipped to meet the demands of modern firefighting.” 41 new fire hoses were purchased as a result of this grant and each of them is 50 feet in length. According to a description of the fund at the Energy Tranfer’s Website, the Energy Transfer First Responder Fund offers grants to fire, EMS, and police departments and other eligible first responder organizations in Energy Transfer’s distribution area.
