(Pittsburgh, PA) Someone climbed to the top of the Gulf Tower without getting permission. According to a spokesperson for Pittsburgh Public Safety, two people, a man and a woman, who were believed to be involved were detained at the Gulf Tower on Friday and the duo was cooperative and provided full statements to police. A photo taken from an office window in the U.S. Steel Tower around 3 p.m. on Thursday appears to show a person at the highest point of the Gulf Tower on Grant Street. A witness said that they were up there for about 15 minutes that day. Pittsburgh police confirm that no permission was given before the climb to the top of the tower began. Police identified the individuals as twenty-seven-year-old Austin Seik of Hookstown and thirty-three-year-old Mariah Lynn Barnes of Munhall. Officials state that they are both charged with criminal trespass. Pittsburgh Bureau of Police announced on Saturday that Downtown Public Safety Center officers had obtained arrest warrants for Seik and Barnes, alleging they “gained illegal access” to the tower.
