(Pittsburgh, PA) PennDOT has now lifted the temporary restrictions on certain vehicles from traveling on several roadways in southwestern Pennsylvania. PennDOT temporarily restricted certain vehicles from using the interstates to help ensure that the interstates remained open during the most challenging conditions of the winter storm due to the winter storm impacting the region.
The vehicle restrictions reflecting Tier 3 of Pennsylvania’s weather event vehicle restriction plan have now been removed from the following District 11 roadways:
Allegheny County
- Interstates 79, 279 (Parkway North), 376 (Parkways East and West), and 579
- Route 28
Beaver County
- Interstate 376 (Beaver Valley Expressway)
Lawrence County
- Interstate 79
- Interstate 376
The speed limit will continue to be restricted to 45 mph for all vehicles on the roadways that are listed above as well as Routes 28 and 65 in Allegheny County and Route 65 in Beaver County. Commercial vehicles not affected by restrictions on these or other roadways must move to the right lane on roadways with speed restrictions.
