(Pittsburgh, PA) Pittsburgh public safety officials confirm that several fights broke out on Saturday night during Light Up Night in Downtown Pittsburgh and officials state that at least one man was taken into custody for allegedly throwing a punch at a police officer. According to a criminal complaint, a group of people were seen yelling at officers near the intersection of McMasters Way and 5th Avenue. One of them was twenty-year-old Keyshawn Sample, who had appeared to have been yelling and was putting his body in a fighting stance at one of the police officers. It was then said that Sample punched the officer in the side of his body. Sample was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and was charged with assault of a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct. A Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson confirms that three arrests were made, multiple people were detained and 18 non-traffic citations were issued during Light Up Night.
