“Thru the Eyes of Sly Washington” Central Valley vs. Aliquippa, Friday October 25, 2019

(Aliquippa, Pa.) On this weeks edition of “Thru the Eyes of Sly Washington” we are off to the Pit in Aliquippa. A highly anticipated game that had building all season long as both teams game into the contest undeafeted in section 3A Tri-County West play this season. The Quips put their perfect 9-0 record on the line. Central Valley came into the contest 8-1 overall with their lone loss coming at the hands of Thomas Jefferson 28-3 in a non conference game.

The game started at with a bang as Aliquippa fumbled on their first possession which  set the tone for the rest of the evening. Central Valley turned the turnover into a 7-0 lead with a 6 yard rush from Ameer Dudley.  Aliquippa then turned the ball over again, and Central Valley capitalized again after a 5 yard rush on an end around. The Quips fumbled the ball again and Central Valley DB Reed Fitzsimmons scored on defense, making the score 21-0 before the crowd even got situated in their seats. The warriors continued to pile it on, adding a 49 yard TD pass to Jawon Hall, and a 30 yard field goal that bounced off the upright and went in, bringing the score to 31-0. Stephan Hall scored for the Warriors just before the half on a 3 yard run making the score to 38-0, and more importantly, initiating the 35 point mercy role.

The second half didn’t provide as much excitement as the first half. The only score of the 3rd quarter happened when Jawon Hall caught a second TD pass for 35 yards, giving Central Valley a 45-0 lead. In the 4th quarter, Aliquippa was able to get on the board with a TD run from Antonio Quinn, but they missed the 2 point conversion, which brought the game to its final score 45-6 and giving the Central Valley Warriors the 3A Tri-County West Section Crown with a 7-0 conference record and 9-1 overall .  The Quips suffered their first loss of the season and finish the regular season 9-1 overall and 6-1 in second place in section play.

The Warriors will head into the play-offs as the number one team out of 3A Tri-County West play and the Quips will be number 2.
