Steven E. Wengryn (1955-2025)

Steven E. Wengryn, 69, of Chippewa Township, passed away unexpectedly on May 24th, 2025 at his home.

He was born in Carnegie on November 27th, 1955, the son of the late Michael and Eva (Wolanska) Wengryn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Wengryn and Maria Wolanska. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary (Hickman) Wengryn, his children, Michael Wengryn, Stephanie Wengryn, and Corinna (Shannon) Caudill, two grandsons, Thomas, and Nicholas Caudill, his canine companion, Ruby and his dog, Savvy. He was fortunate to have many close friendships throughout his life, especially with Mark, Della, Anthony, and Dean, who were by his side through so many good times. He also shared a special bond with Stefanie Cindric, his daughter’s lifelong best friend, who was like a daughter to him and supported him and his family through many of life’s challenges.

Steven was a graduate of Carlynton High School with the Class of 1973, who went on to study aviation at Beaver County Community College and Middle Tennessee State University. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served as a fighter pilot from 1979 until 1987. Following his military service, he flew for American Airlines as a Captain from 1987 until his retirement in 2020.

Steven was known for his warmth, generosity, and sense of fun. He was the kind of person who would do anything for those he loved. He enjoyed golfing, winemaking, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers as a longtime season ticket holder. He was the heart of the tailgate and loved spending time with friends at the “Smoke Stack.” Above all, he loved being with his family, his children and grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Friends will be received on Monday, June 2nd from 3-7 P.M. at the GABAUER-LUTTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls, where a blessing service will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd at 11 AM.

Interment with full military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Tuesday, June 3rd at 2 P.M.
