Richard E. Cairns Sr. (February 13, 1935 – June 6, 2024)

Richard E. “Dick” Cairns Sr., age 89, of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, formerly of Rochester, passed away June 6th, 2024, at his daughters home. Richard was born February 13th, 1935 in Koppel, PA. He is the son of the late Richard A. and Mary Ann Hobilia Cairns. Richard was a retired employee with the Valspar Company of Rochester Township and a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church- Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Rochester. Dick was a retired firefighter with the Rochester Township Volunteer Fire department and previously a little league and pony league baseball coach for Rochester. He was a prior PIAA/WPIAL basketball referee and umpire with the ASA Sanctioned Softball Fast and Slow pitch. Dick was also a member of the former Rochester Township Fireman’s Club.
Richard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joann P. Pratte Cairns, one son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. Jr. and Melissa Cairns, of Brevard, NC, one daughter and son-in-law Patti J. and Robert Maciejewski, of Eighty Four, PA, and one brother and sister-in-law David M. Cairns of Beaver Falls, and Marilyn Cairns, of Myrtle Beach, SC,. Surviving him are also three grandsons, Nicholas, Conor, and Maxon Maciejewski, a granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Stiles and her husband Billy, two great-grandsons Parker and Hudson Stiles, and three great-granddaughters, Abby and Vivi Stiles, and Ryleigh Jeanfreau. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dick is preceded in death by a brother William J. Cairns.
Friends will be received Monday June 10th, from 3-7 at William Murphy Funeral Home Inc. 349 Adams Street Rochester, PA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Rochester. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia cemetery. The family wishes for any donations to be made to the Beaver County Special Olympics at 128 Friendship Cir, Beaver, PA 15009.
