John L. Yeager (1943-2025)

John L. Yeager, 82, of Chippewa Township, passed away on December 13th, 2025. He was born in Ambridge on November 2nd, 1943, a son of the late Andrew and Mary (Ferencik) Yeager. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Ernest and a sister, Mary Fraser. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth, a sister, Phyllis Rowley of Conway, a son, Benjamin (Mia) of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, a daughter, Eve of Chippewa Township, his grandsons, Garen and Gabe Yeager, as well as several nieces and nephews.

John graduated from Ambridge High School and Geneva College. He was a life science teacher in the Blackhawk School District for 35 years. He had many wonderful memories of his students, their families, fellow teachers, and administrators. His morning routine included breakfast at the Hot Dog Shoppe in Chippewa, where he enjoyed chatting with his friends, former students, and staff. He also served in many capacities at the First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City. His interests included fishing, landscaping, golfing with his friends and travelling internationally with his wife and family. He also received many awards for woodworking and sculpting. He was never bored, spending time designing, creating and rebuilding a wide range of projects, everything from homes, boats and to his final project, the restoration of a 1957 Jaguar XK 150 coupe.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 19th from 3-7 p.m. in the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls, who was in charge of his arrangements.

Friends will also be received at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20th until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 416 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City.
