James (Jim) J. Verrico, 95, of East Rochester, passed away on October 2, 2024.
She was born on September 21, 1929 in Rochester, he was a son of the late James and Genevieve Verrico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Joyce Ann Verrico, brothers, Emmerick, Louis, Philip, Patsy and John, sisters, Genevieve Beckert, Mary Louise Fusco and Jeanette Lombardo. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Verrico of East Rochester, his sons, Ronald Verrico of Brighton Township, Philip (Becky) Verrico of Ellwood City, and James R. (Teena) Verrico of Center Township, grandchildren: Melissa Bruno, Heather Verrico, Ronald J. Verrico, Jr., Vincenzo Verrico, Gianna Verrico and Brooke Verrico; great grandchildren, Megan and Damian, and numerous nieces and nephews. James was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked 4 decades in the steel industry and retired from Pittsburgh Bridge and Iron after 33 years. In his spare time, he loved to travel to different casinos and tend to his garden. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities. He was a member of Saint Cecilia Roman Catholic Church of Rochester. In accordance with James’ wishes, all services were private.
He will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, on October 25, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Full Military Rites.
