George N. Vorrias (Passed on December 28th, 2025)

George N. Vorrias, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his Monaca residence, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in the village of Mesta, Chios, Greece, the only child of the late Nikolas and Marina (Sergonis) Vorrias. George’s journey led him to forge a new path in America, where he established deep roots and a loving family. In October 1980, he married his beloved wife, Carol Kibler Vorrias, at the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Church in Aliquippa, and together they shared 45 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Carol, and their three children, Nickolas (Laura) Vorrias, Andoni Vorrias, and Maurina (Jacob) McKay, his six grandchildren: William Bryne, Nikolas, Leo, Ariana and George Vorrias and Demetria McKay, who were the light of his life. He instilled in them the values of hard work, family, and the importance of tradition. He is also survived by a close cousin, Sergio (Irene) Sergonis of New Jersey, and is fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: William Kibler, Randy (Rose) Kibler, James (Cindy) Kibler, John (Kathy) Kibler, Brenda (Terry) Cochran, and Tom Kibler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in Greece.

In his youth, George honed his skills as a furniture apprentice in Greece. At the age of nineteen, he immigrated to America, first settling in Steubenville, Ohio, in May of 1973. After moving to Monaca, George worked for Paul Mandalakas, who shared the same hometown in Greece, creating a special bond between them. His dedication to his craft led him to study in the early 1990s to become a master carpenter and master coppersmith.

George was a former member of the Monaca-Center #791 F & AM Lodge. However, his greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. George’s love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
