Denise Ann Yaworsky (1954-2025)

Denise Ann Yaworsky, 71, of Ambridge, passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2025, in her home, which was her final request, surrounded by her primary caregivers, Elbie and Amy Yaworsky. Her daughter Ashley commuted from Clearfield to care for her mom and family. She is survived by her husband, Elbie Yaworsky, with whom she enjoyed 49 years in marriage. They had three daughters, Amy Yaworsky of Ambridge, Jennifer (Josh) Luce of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and Ashley (Tim) Cali of Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Denise was lovingly known as Grandma to her four grandsons, with whom she enjoyed spending every opportunity to make wonderful memories together. Noah and Isaiah Luce of Port Saint Lucie spent their winters with Grandma, as she enjoyed being a Pennsylvania Snowbird. Tristan and Troy Cali of Clearfield got to spend many surprise weekend visits with Grandma.

She was born on June 14th, 1954, the first of five children to Dorothy Brasco Scarsella and Philip Scarsella. She was a sister to Philip Scarsella of Pittsburgh, Paul (Linda) Scarsella of Bethel Park, Debbie (Patsy Pitzarella) of Canonsburg, and Diana (Randy St. Cyr) of Washington. She also loved her many nephews and nieces. Denise graduated from Peters Township School District in 1972. While in high school, she participated in the drill team and met lifelong friends, Nancy Brucker Larson and Jacki Friedsam Pecek. She really treasured her special friendships with her sister, Debbie Pitzarella, sister-in-law, Flora Galbreath and good friend, Mary Bencivenga. She attended Robert Morris University and graduated with an associate’s degree in 1976. While at Robert Morris, she met her husband, Elbie Yaworsky of Ambridge. Denise worked in multiple clerical and sales positions at Joseph Horne and JCPenney.  She thoroughly enjoyed working in the JCPenney drapery department.  She enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing cards, and making memories with her family.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, who was in charge of her arrangements, and where family and friends are welcome to attend a viewing for Denise on Tuesday, December 30th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the Trophimus Center, 823 Maplewood Avenue, Ambridge. Participants can park in the funeral home parking lot and walk across the street to the Trophimus Center.

At the family’s request, interment will be private.
