David James Reed, 77, of Monaca passed away on August 24, 2024, at the Brighton Rehab & Wellness Center of Beaver. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Robert and Lois Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers James and Thomas H. Reed, and his sister, Betty J. Brown. He is survived by his sister, Edna Kennedy, brother, Glenn (Ella) Reed, his sister-in-law, Adele Reed, four nieces, special niece, Nancy Lambert, and a nephew.
David was a graduate of Springdale High School. Following his graduation, he answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
Upon returning to civilian life, David embarked on a career in the health care profession.
David was of the Methodist faith. In his leisure time, David enjoyed attending car cruises, where he reveled in the beauty and craftsmanship of classic automobiles. An avid reader, David had a particular fondness for the works of Stephen King.
His affection for animals, especially cats, was well-known among his friends and family.
Services will be private with burial in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.
