A provision in one of the 2019 budget bills that came to the floor of the Senate from the House — House Bill 33 — cancels the General Assistance program in Pennsylvania. The program takes about 200 million dollars and gives it in $200 per month increments to the disabled, domestic violence survivors and others who need cash to tide them over until a disability check or some other form of assistance is received.
