Veteran Hopewell Township police officers Eric Yerdon and Ronald McMasters were sworn in as the township’s 2 new sergeants by Police Chief Brian Uhrmacher at last night’s meeting, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Sergeant Yerdon began his career as a part time officer 1996 and became full time in 1998. He attended CCAC and CCBC for his education after graduating from West Allegheny High School He has also served as officer in charge. Sergeant Mc Masters is a Hopewell Area High School graduate and started as a part time officer in 2002, and became full time in 2007 . He has worked in Independence Township, Shippingport, the 911 center, Medic rescue, and a firefighter for Alkuquippa and Hopewell. Commissioners chairman Rich Bufalini said the township has been looking to do the promotions for a long time . Township manager Norman Krause, Jr. invited those in attendance, which included family, friends, and fellow officers to a reception to honor the 2 sergeants in the commissioners meeting room Food, refreshments and beautifully decorated cake with the officers names on it graced the table. The commissioners adopted the 2017 budget of $9,834,955.00. Real estate taxes will remain at 14 mills. All township offices will be closed Monday, January 2, 2017 in observance of New Year’s.
