Hopewell School Board approved the retirement of of Johannah Robb, business manager effective September 30, 2017, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Mrs. Robb has been working in the district 14 years. She said, i look forward to doing something different.” Tax collectors in Hopewell, Raccoon, and Independence Townships will earn $4.50 per parcel effective the first Monday of January 2018. Mrs. Robb told the board they are statutory employees , they are elected officials. the board was caught off guard when the requests were delivered at 3 p.m. to the office on Wednesday .Solicitor Jjohn Salopek said that the remuneration had to be passed before they pass election petitions. The district buys the computers for the tax collectors and the cost is shared with the townships. The tax collectors run for 4 year terms. Supt. Dr. Michelle miller announced that this is chool board recognition month and the board members were presented mementos from the staff, administration and students. Teacher Chris Signorelli will accompany 2 AP BIO/BIO students to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh to view an open heart surgery performed . Asst. principal Doug Rowe told the board the trip is a super opportunity to see how a team of health specialists work together to heal individuals. He said it will also tie in biology with current career options in the medical field. This is the second year for SEA Perch, an underwater robotics program with 3 or 4 teams. School competition is march 11, they will compete in regionals at Duquesne April 8, and national competition at Georgia Tech in May.
