(Beaver Falls, PA) Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier told Beaver County Radio an attempted bank robbery took place in Beaver Falls at Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union Tuesday. The suspect managed to obtain a small of amount of money before leaving the bank. A search for the suspect, who has been identified as Derrick Grant, is ongoing and Grant is being considered dangerous. An emergency response team is stationed in the city and appear to be going over search areas which seem to be focused on a wooded area in Beaver Falls around 37th Street. Sources tell Beaver County Radio that the suspect used a bat during the robbery, in which he used to break plexiglass and make his way behind the bank counter. Helicopters, an ATV, and armored vehicles are present in the area. A local resident told Beaver County Radio, “this is crazy, they aren’t playing.” Beaver County Radio was the only media on scene as of 4pm Tuesday afternoon. The search for the suspect was still underway as of 6:45pm. Check back for more updates in this developing story.
