Beaver County officials say a total of 72 of the 133 eligible county employees have accepted the buyout offered by the county. The whole idea in offering the buyouts was proposed so the county can cut costs without layoffs. No word yet if the county met that goal. County Commissioner Tony Amadio tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that he was surprised the number was that high and that it’s going to be difficult replacing some of these people, most notably longtime Emergency Services Director Wes Hill. Many of the county workers who have accepted the buyout offer have agreed to stay on as a part-time employee to aid in the transition.
