Chris Shovlin stopped by Teleforum with Frank Sparks this morning to talk about the 2017 Class of the  Midland Hall of Fame presented by Joe Spanik. Midland Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Recipients:  This year, the Midland Sports Hall of Fame Committee voted to extend its college scholarship application criteria to include not just graduating students who are current residents of the Borough of Midland, but also to children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. of graduates of Midland High School.  Recipients:  Rennell Cummings II lives in Midland and is a 2017 graduate of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.  He will major in Psychology and play basketball at Bowling Green State University.  Leah Nichols of Midland is also a 2017 Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School graduate.  She will major in Allied Health / Nursing at the Community College of Beaver County this fall.  Alexis Scelp resides in Industry and is a 2017 graduate of Western Beaver High School.  She will major in Nursing at the Community College of Beaver County.

Marie Timpano, Executive Director and Dina Ciabattoni, Continuum Of Care Coordinator of The Cornerstone of Beaver County stooped by for a visit on Teleforum with Frank Sparks on Thursday June 22, 2017. The Ladies told the listeners about Cornerstone and asked for their help. The Cornerstone is a local non-profit that helps people who are homeless or in a bad position that they maybe become homeless. They have very limited resources and have entered a contest to help give Cornerstone the Digital Boost they need to be able to reach out and help more of our neighbors. The contest is Synergy’s Digital Boost project. Kolbe Cole from Trails Ministries in Beaver Falls stopped by on Teleforum with Frank Sparks today to talk about a various number of topics and activities concerning Trails Ministries.

This weekend Friday June 23 and Saturday June 24 Trails Ministries will be hosting  the return of the  Black History 101 Mobile Museum at its Hope Center at 918 Seventh Ave. in Beaver Falls Pa. The traveling exhibit of black memorabilia visited the city last July.  The mobile classroom founded by Khalid el-Hakim of Detroit is a historic breath taking  learning laboratory of more than 7,000 artifacts. El-Hakim, a teacher, started collecting while a student at Ferris State University and was inspired to create the mobile museum after attending 1995’s Million Man March in Washington, D.C., where Louis Farrakhan urged those attending to make a difference in their communities.  The exhibit depicts black memorabilia spanning from to slavery to hip hop.

The hours of the exhibit are  3 to 9 p.m.  Friday June 23 and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday June 24. Museum curator Khalid el-Hakim will present a lecture for adults at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and one for youth at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
