Sandi Hutchison and Deila Gilbert from Crossroads Shelter Stopped by Teleforum Today!!!!

Sandie Hutchison, Shelter Coordinator and Delia Gilbert Secretary of the Board of Directors for Crossroads Shelter appeared on Teleforum with Frank Sparks at 11 o’clock Wednesday February 28, 2018. Sandie and Deila told the listeners about the homeless problem in Beaver County and what Crossroads does to try and combat the problem. Crossroads is a 22 bed facility that is for mean and is open at 7 pm each night and closes at 8 am each morning. The shelter has an intake process that each person must go through in order to stay there overnight.  Sandi explained that the shelter not only gives their clients a place to lay their head at night but how they assist them in getting back on their feet and directing them in the right direction so that they can be on the path to recover their life to not be homeless any longer. Along with bringing on the first edition of “Free Food Friday” on Beaver County Radio, she also brought along Sherry Hutchison from Adoption Connection in Beaver to discuss foster care and other topics involving the youth of Beaver County, as well as Randy Morrow from the Vanport VFD, to discuss the importance of fire safety and the possibilities of volunteering for your local fire department.

“Free Food Friday” With Rachel From Al’s Corner!

It was getting to be lunchtime, and the staff at Beaver County Radio was getting a little hungry. Thankfully, they were saved by a stop by Rachel McGreal from Al’s Corner in Koppel, located on the corner of Route 18 and Route 351 in Koppel.

Rachel brought in an assortment of good food for the Beaver County Radio on-air staff, including fish sandwiches, sweet sausage sandwiches, pizza, and homemade macaroni and cheese. Rachel also mentioned the different types of food specials that Al’s has daily, as well as the well-known fountain drink special they’ve carried for years.

Tom Young ChFC, CLU, RFC from 1st Consultants in Beaver made his monthly appearance on Teleforum with Frank Sparks on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. The show was also streamed live on Facebook. Tom talked about a variety of topics from what Banks do with your money to taxes and why if you are in debt you shouldn’t be investing in the market. Tom and Frank went over traditional retirement plans and why they are not the way to go. Tom stated that with a traditional retirement plan all your doing is putting money away for retirement that isn’t taxed but when you are ready to retire you’ll have to pay taxes on the money and as you use the money the taxes will more than likely be higher  rates than they are now. Dino Capestrani, Marketing Director of Concordia Visiting Nurses on Teleforum!!!!

Dino Capestrani, Marketing Director of Concordia Visiting Nurses was on Teleforum with Frank Sparks on Friday February 16, 2018. Dino and Frank talked about “Walking out of the hospital”. Dino told the listeners that what he meant by walking out of the hospital was that studies have proven that patients typically leave the hospital 36 hours earlier if they get up and walk while in the hospital. He said that it’s proven when you get up and get moving you tend to feel better about yourself thus you heal faster and he also gave tips of ways that you can encourage your loved one to get up and moving with your doctors approval. The guys then discusses how Concordia Visiting Nurses can assist patients once they are at home if they are still in need of skilled nursing care. Frank and Dino also talked about Concordia Visiting Nurses celebrating their 20th Anniversary in 2018 and how anyone who is interested in a career with Concordia Visiting Nurses could go about applying for a position.
