1230 WBVP, 99.3 FM, and beavercountyradio.com’s  Bob Barrickman and Jason Colangelo had the call from Oak Hill Field in New Brighton of this WPIAL Class 2A Midwestern Athletic Conference high school football game as the Lions battled the defending champion Tigers.

Beaver Falls dominates New Brighton!

The Beaver Falls Tigers defeated the New Brighton Lions tonight 39-18, and they keep the Little Brown Jug in the 15010.  The game started out as a close one, as both teams seemed to trade touchdowns in the first quarter. Despite the back and forth the Tigers eventually started to pull away, and they took a 26-12 lead going into the half. The second half was all Beaver Falls out scoring the Lions 13-6 in the second half and coming up with a few turnovers as well, which helped the Tigers seal the victory. The Beaver Falls Tigers move to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the section as they will play the Mohawk Warriors next week. As for the New Brighton Lions they drop to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the section, they will play the Laurel Spartans next week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will perform for the first time together on stage at the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. The NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation announced Thursday that the five music icons will perform on Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Lamar are Southern California natives. It’s the third year of collaboration between the NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation. Roc Nation founder Jay-Z said in a statement that their show will be “history in the making.” The 2022 game will be the first time the Super Bowl has been played in the Los Angeles area since 1993.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Justin Steele breezed through seven shutout innings and the Chicago Cubs scored six runs in the second inning Thursday night, beating Pittsburgh 9-0 and sending the Pirates to their 100th loss of the season. Steele (4-4) struck out seven and gave up four hits on 76 pitches. Pittsburgh joined Texas, Baltimore and Arizona, giving the MLB four 100-loss teams for the third time, after 2002 and 2019. Sergio Alcántara had three RBIs, two coming on a homer off Miguel Yajure (0-2) in the second.
