(Bridgewater, PA) Hopewell Vikings head football coach Mark Washington, along with a few of his players, were the featured guests on the air, and live in person at Coaches Corner on Wednesday September 13, 2017, on the Sports Patio and Winter Lodge at Robert’s Roadside Inn in Bridgewater.
As usual, Bob Barrickman, Bruce Frey and Tom Hays hosted the program, which airs every Wednesday night from 7 to 8 P.M. live on WBVP and WMBA. Attendees and guests were treated to free pizza courtesy of Pizza Joe’s in Beaver, and free wings from Robert’s Roadside Inn.

Coach Washington talked about how his team has responded well after losing the first game to Freedom, and then going on to win the next two. The Vikings have a long road trip this week as they travel to Yough High School in Herminie, PA, for their next game on Friday, September 15, 2017. Kickoff is at 7 P.M. The Pittsburgh Pirates will open the 2018 Major League Baseball season in Detroit on Thursday March 29 against the Tigers. The game is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. EDT. They will then have Friday March 30 off and return to play the Tigers in Game 2 Saturday March 31 and Game 3 on Sunday April 1. Both Saturday and Sunday games are scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. EDT.
The Pirates will then return home for the home opener on Monday April 2 against the Minnesota Twins. The home opener is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. and is the beginning of a six game home stand that includes two games against the Twins and Four against the Cincinnati Reds.
The Bucs will then hit the road again headed to Chicago for the Cubs home opener on Monday April 9. The game is scheduled to start at 2:20 p.m. EDT and is the start of a 3 game series against the before the Pirates move on to Miami and Play the Marlins in a three game series.

Aliquippa remains undefeated after 3 weeks of play, defeating Beaver by a score of 30-10 on 1460 WMBA. The Bobcats took an early 7-0 lead in the 2nd quarter, but the Quips scored 30 unanswered to improve to 3-0. Beaver drops to 2-1 on the 2017 season.
Tariq Jones (Aliquippa) and Noah Yates (Beaver) were selected as the CCBC Players of The Game.

It was tight at the beginning, but Freedom pulled away from New Brighton in the second half and earned their second victory of the season by a score of 28-7. The Bulldogs (2-1) held on to a 7-0 lead at the end of the first half, but the Lions struggled all night to get on the scoreboard and now fall to 0-3 on the year.
Jake Francona (New Brighton) and Kyle Borgman (Freedom) were named the CCBC Players of The Game.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they have agreed to a new four year contract with Manager Clint Hurdle. Hurdles contract was suppose to expire at the end of the season. Hurdle will now be the Pirates Manager thru the 2021 season . The Pirates made the announcement during Mondays game against the Cubs . In seven seasons as the Pirates Manager Hurdle has guided the Pirates to a 574-534 record and 3 wild card appearances losing two of the three . Tune into A.M.
