Aliquippa 42, South Park 7

Many changes came to the WPIAL Playoffs this year, including Aliquippa (and a host of others) moving up to 3A and playing only three rounds of playoffs.

One thing though that did not change was Aliquippa being #1 in the WPIAL Playoffs, and proving why in the first round.

The Quips cruise to a 42-7 victory over the #8-seeded South Park Eagles at Moe Rubenstein Stadium on WMBA. The Quips improve to 9-2 and will play Derry in the Class 3A seminfinals next Friday.

South Park’s Adam Morris and Aliquippa’s Xavier Fisher earned CCBC Player of The Game honors.

Rochester 39, Riverview 6

It’s been a while since the Rochester Rams made the WPIAL Playoffs (2012), but Gene Matsook’s squad acted tonight as if they’d never left.

#2 Rochester dominated the #15 Riverview in the opening round of the Class 1A playoffs with a 39-6 win on WBVP. Rochester improves to 10-0 and will face Imani Christian in the quarterfinals next Friday, site and time to be determined.

Nasan Tibbens of Riverview and Rochester’s Andrew Massey were named CCBC Players of The Game.
