(Pittsburgh, PA) It was a beautiful day for a ball game in the northern hills of the Steel City on Wednesday afternoon.  While it’s true that under normal circumstances in the jungle, the Lions would have the Antelopes running for their lives, on this day on the diamond,  it was the the Antelopes of Avonworth getting the best of the visiting Lions from New Brighton by a score of 9 to 3.

New Brighton got life late in the game to keep it from ending under the 10 run mercy rule and had a rally of their own in the last inning to put three runs on the board.

Brault and others optioned to Triple A today

Left-hander Steven Brault was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on today , taking him out of the race for the final open spot in the Pirates’ starting rotation.

Infielder Gift Ngoepe also was sent to Indy. Right-hander Josh Lindblom and infielder Jason Rogers were reassigned to minor league camp.

The optioning of Brault assures the Pirates will not have a left hand pitcher in the starting  rotation to start the season this year barring any trades before opening day.
